Today I’m grateful for weekends away!
This weekend we had a double whammy of fun! On Saturday evening we headed over to Warwick Arts Centre to see Kodo – a Japanese taiko group hailing from Sado Island. They were truly fantastic, a real sight to behold and it was fabulous to get the opportunity to see them. It has been a long time since they have been in the UK so I feel really grateful that they came to Warwick.
It was late when we got back to our hotel and I couldn’t face the thought of dealing with a WordPress post on my iPad, so I broke my flow and decided not to post. However, I’m not sure that’s a bad thing because I felt much more eager to post tonight than I have for a few days. Obviously it helps when you have exciting things to write about!
Today we headed off into Oxford to complete our trip, which was a great experience! I’d never been to Oxford but my partner used to live relatively close and roughly knew the lay of the land. He took me on a little tour and made sure I saw what came under the category of ‘proper Oxford’. I’d seen photos of the city before but I was unprepared for how beautiful the architecture was. I’ve visited Cambridge a couple of times before but I’m afraid I loved Oxford’s charm even more… Stunning buildings and on a sunny day (we were blessed with a whole day of great weather) they were even more gorgeous.
There was a bit of obligatory shopping, of course, and I managed to get some new jeans (something I always find tricky). Both of my favourite pairs had been worn to holes in places so it was necessary, and since Fat Face had 20% off I couldn’t really say no! We also spent a good while in the magnificent Waterstones – multiple floors of delicious books… We lightened their load and took a few home with us. It would have been rude not to!
What was especially lovely was that everywhere we went, the people were so super nice. Nothing was too much effort, everyone was smiley and happy to help.
I’ve collated a few photos of our Oxford adventures. 🙂 I hope you’ve all had a good weekend too.
